Limitations apply. Read more About Us We are named for the coldest, most unforgiving side of a mountain. We have helped explorers reach the most unfathomable heights of the Himalayas. But The North Face legend begins, ironically, on a beach. More precisely, San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood, at an altitude of only 150 feet above sea level. It was here in 1966 that two hiking enthusiasts resolved to follow their passions and founded a small mountaineering retail store. From the beginning, the brand committed to serving all those who desired to explore and to serving our natural wild lands by helping to conserve them. Now, more than 50 Years after its humble grand opening, The North Face delivers an extensive line of performance apparel, equipment, and footwear. We push the boundaries of innovation so that you can push the boundaries of exploration. Read more

Very light and warm. I travel a lot and pack it in the front zip pocket of airline suitcase. Compresses into a really small space. I'm 5 feet 11 inches and 160 and a Medium fits well, but allows enough room to layer a polartec 200 shirt underneath if it's really windy. I am often on the beach in New Jersey in the winter with my dogs where it is VERY windy and often in the 20's. With one polartec 200 shirt on top of a tee shirt this jacket is VERY warm (almost too warm). The hood is perfect, zips up to cover the neck and has ties for snug but comfortable fit that blocks all wind.I got it for $186 in Black TNF, but it's cheeper in other colors (and on Moosejaw.com). I prefer buying from Amazon though, because of the simple and reliable return policy.Just got the hoodie, was anxious to get it but I felt the wait was a little long considering I could have received it on Saturday but it kept dancing back and forth through local zip codes. As far as hoodie its currently around 32 degrees in Reno, NV with wind, rain and snow! It's doing its job keeping me perfectly warm and dry! I love it and I am going to order another one for my spouse.I would like to add that I did get it a day before expected but USPS did say a couple times it was out for delivery but didn't get it til today. The jacket is very light and is filled with a thermoball type of fillingI think this jacket could work ok in moderate conditions using an outer shell especially if you were going to be skiing or snowboardingI don't believe that this jacket would be warm by itself I am 185 pounds 5 11 and a half I purchased the large -it fit big and was big in the armsFor the price that are better jackets however the niche for this jacket is it is extremely light and can be used under a shell because it's not very puffy at allIt's definitely not bad and fits the purpose. I just think that for such a strong advertising regarding the warmth, it is just not going to be enough to resist a regular winter in Boston (even with an outside jacket). I would recommend for temperatures over 32 FThis is a great jacket -- I ended up returning it because I found it much cheaper on another site shortly after purchasing but would recommend this jacket to anyone! I love the TNF thermoball series -- excellent for layering, best for temps 40's- 60's. < 40 usually requires I put on an outer shell.Reviews stated this would keep me warm in 30 degree weather. It doesn't. A t-shirt, shirt and sweater underneath works, though. It's very lightweight, which is good ...but not if it doesn't keep you warm.Great Jacket--just got back from Fairbanks AK--it was 37 degrees Fahrenheit. This jacket did great in that temperature and blocked the wind with ease. It is also a very comfortable garment--well worth the money!gotta love tnf thermoball but slightly long and large fit..
